The involvement of Jodi Stachowski in the Brendan Dassey trial was supposed to show that Avery moved his bedroom furniture to immaculately clean his home. She also testified to the two telephone calls that she placed to Steven Avery the evening of 31 October, 2005. Her testimony on the telephone calls was at odds with the closing rebuttal made by Wisconsin Assistant Attorney General Tom Fallon.

The Dassey Confessions – Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department

During the fourth interrogation of Brendan Dassey, investigators attempted to implicate Brendan’s friend Travis, his brother Blaine, Jodi Stachowski, and others in the crime.

The interrogation was characterized by constant coercion of the sixteen‑year‑old special education student. Interrogators even managed to have Brendan say that a known truth was a lie.

Manitowoc County Interrogation of Brendan Dassey ‑ Before the Shot

The confession from this interrogation was used in edited form at the trial of Brendan Dassey. Investigators and the State had a warrant ready to search the Avery property again, and this interrogation was needed to retroactively justify it. The two interrogators guided Dassey to supply statements they needed and at times told him what they wanted to hear. Investigators wanted to look for evidence of shooting, so Investigator Mark Wiegert told Dassey that Teresa Halbach was shot in the head.

On the morning of 1 March, 2006, lead investigators for the prosecution picked up Brendan Dassey from his school to take him to an interrogation. They stopped at his home to get a pair of jeans they believed implicated Dassey in the murder of Teresa Halbach. The jeans did not contain supporting evidence.
